PROFILE: ISAAC ROBERTS
Isaac began at BHCS in Year 7 back in 2006. In 2010 (at the end of Year 11), Isaac left BHCS to study a TAFE course at Swinburne, Wantirna doing a Transition to Education. Isaac was a great addition to BHCS, his class (2011 grads) was sad to see him leave – but wonderful things were still ahead.
In 2012 Isaac enrolled in another course, Certificate I in Work Education. During the Work Ed course, he had placements at a few supermarkets, and also worked at Bunnings in Belgrave South. More recently he has had placements at Zagames in Boronia – portioning foods, emptying the dishwasher, etc. He tried this for a few weeks, and then decided to move on to something else. These days, Isaac works at Transpacific factory two days a week, and also volunteers at the Hills Church Op Shop on a Monday. He especially enjoys going bowling with some great friends, which he does every Saturday.
2012 was quite a year for Isaac. Did you know he was on Deal or No Deal with his mum, and got Andew O’Keefe’s autograph! While his parents were traveling in the UK, he also caught a plane to Queensland and spent three weeks over there – his brother had a job as an air traffic controller at Brisbane Airport. He also went to New Zealand in 2013, which was his first time going overseas. What a beautiful place to visit for a first trip!
Isaac still keeps in touch with some of his classmates through Facebook and even teachers – you probably wouldn’t know any of this without the wonder of social media. He even came with his family this year to see the School’s production of Beauty and the Beast.
His favourite school memories were being part of the Singing Group, Food Tech and Music. He enjoyed coming to school camps and excursion. Isaac says that everyone who was at school when he was there was “very friendly and welcoming and it’s been a really nice experience. Although the school might have changed a fair bit since I first started there. I liked pretty much everything about the school.”
