PROFILE: JEMMA ROMP
Jemma joined us at BHCS in Year 8, and graduated from Year 12 only last year! It may have only been less than 12 months since she finished, but it has been a very busy!
She began her first year of university studying a Bachelor of Commerce/Global Studies at ACU which has posed as a slight challenge, but definitely made her excited about her future career. While studying as a retail assistant at Kikki. K, and as a marketing assistant at SkinB5 (thanks to the generosity of MP Jason Wood and his wife, Judy). Her role at SkinB5 consists of responding to customer inquiries and working on social media outreach. This year she also began assisting as a youth leader at the.church@1330.
Jemma had no idea that only a year on, this is where she would be. “I had no idea I would end up being blessed with two amazing jobs, or being asked to be a youth leader, or have the craziest, busiest, but most fabulous life!”
What other interesting things has Jemma been up to? In January she went to South East Asia with her family and is now planning her next missions trip for 2016. New experiences? Riding an elephant!
Jemma is still best friends with Kerryl – they love studying together at uni. She also often bumps into many of her other classmates, and tries to visit them when she can.
Her favourite School memories are all of the amazing fun camps, events, experiences and opportunities, especially in Year 12. “Preparing for the end of year celebrations and experiencing them with both the teachers and students are my greatest memories!”
Like we have heard many times before, Jemma misses the teachers the most! She believes the staff were and still are her greatest inspirations and mentors. “They seriously have made me into the person I am today and I can’t thank them enough for the input they put into my life!”
Jemma has this last piece of advice to share, an attitude to life that she learnt from her Schooling years, particularly with Mr Seskis – “Always try your best, be the change you wish to see in the world, give everything you do your all, be a great leader, but most importantly love big and never stop having fun!!!
Actually! This one too: “Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened!” – Dr. Seuss, Mrs McDowell wrote this in my card after the Seussical and I’ve never forgotten it!”
